Mano Kanagamany - Executive Assistant


Mano Kanagamany is a Tamil Indian born in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He completed his early schooling in Kandy and his higher studies in Chennai, India. Prior to immigrating to Canada, he worked as a Lecturer at the Hindustan Institute of Engineering Technology in Chennai, India (1983-85) and as a Reclamation Engineer for the Sri Lanka Transport Board in its Central Region. (1985-86).

Mano has been actively involved in our community for more than 23 years. He has been a keen organizer for several elected officials in Federal, Provincial and Municipal politics, while playing key roles in the campaigns of many high-profile candidates who went on to become Prime Ministers, Premiers and Mayors.

Additionally, Mano has been involved with various community organizations and has also been the recipient of several of awards including the Government of Canada’s Outstanding Volunteer Award and also the Government of Ontario's Spirit Award.  Mano was also recognized as “Star of the Week” by the York Region community newspapers and appeared live on national media for Individual Canadian's Efforts to assist with aiding victims of the tsunami disaster.

Prior to joining Michelle’s team as her Executive Assistant, Mano was employed for over 6 years as Special Assistant to Scarborough-Rouge River M.P., Derek Lee and also served as Derek’s Campaign Manager during the 2004, 2006 & 2008 federal elections.  Mano was also previously employed as Manager of Political Operations for by the Liberal Party of Canada Ontario (LPCO) and was elected to LPCO’s executive board.

Mano is a Commissioner of Oaths in the Province of Ontario.
